Liverpool have torn up the loan deal which saw Taiwo Awoniyi join Belgian side Royal Excel Mouscron last summer after he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, according to a report.

Anfield Edition, a reputable source of information surrounding the Reds, claim that the 20-year-old is set to see out the rest of the campaign at Anfield as he looks to recover from the serious bombshell, which is set to keep him out until pre-season at the earliest.

The youngster, who is yet to make his debut for Liverpool, has made 31 appearances for the Belgian side this season, scoring 10 goals and chipping in with seven assists, and is said to be shipped out on loan to a side at a more competitive level next season.

Football Insider verdict

Awoniyi is said to have impressed Jurgen Klopp with his development but with the amount of talent ahead of him at Anfield, he faces a tough few years which will either make or break his future at the club. His hamstring injury will limit his ability to impress the German manager in pre-season and with there little chance of senior action during the next campaign, another loan exit seems more than likely. He will be hoping that he is given a chance somewhere which will tests him further than in Belgium as well as keeping him under the watchful eye of the Reds coaches as he tries to impress.

In other Liverpool news, the club are on the verge of signing a brilliant Manchester City attacker in a deal that will be finalised in June.
