Super agent Jorge Mendes has had formal talks with a family member of Dele Alli as he tries to sign the Tottenham midfielder, according to a report.
The Daily Mail reports that the agent, who has close connections to Real Madrid, is keen to sign the 21-year-old to his Gestifute agency.
The Spurs midfielder has been linked with a move to Real Madrid just like several of his teammates in recent times, but a decision to switch agent to Mendes would do nothing to ease those transfer rumours.
Indeed, it would pair up the world’s most successful football agent with one of the most in-demand footballers in the world in a potential mega deal.
The same report does go on to point out that Alli is contracted to current agent, Impact Sports Management until midway next year, so no deal with Mendes could happen just yet.
The England international agreed to a long contract extension at Spurs only last year with his current deal not expiring to 2022.
Real Madrid and Mendes’ potential interest in Alli has been gained after several impressive appearances this season for the midfielder, and Alli has made it known he’d like to move to the Bernbeu at some point in his career.
Alli has scored seven goals in 13 appearances as well as grabbing an assist to help his side’s cause.
One of the only dampers on Alli’s season so far, is that he has only been available to play in one of Tottenham’s Champions League fixtures after he was suspended for Spurs’ opening three games in the contest.
The 21-year-old missed England’s friendlies against Brazil and Germany as well as Spurs’ last game against Crystal Palace thanks to a hamstring injury, but is expected to return to action on Saturday.
The midfielder has returned to training ahead of Spurs’ crucial match against Arsenal at the Emirates.
