Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez has told captain Sergio Ramos that he is set to join Liverpool at the start of the summer transfer window as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to a report.
Spanish publication Don Balon claim that Jurgen Klopp has identified the 26-year-old as a top replacement for the red hot Egyptian forward, with his superb form said to be attracting the likes of Los Blancos over a potential swoop this summer.
It is stated that Vazquez or Nabil Fekir could join up at Anfield, but that Real are willing to offer goalkeeper Keylor Navas in a sensational double swoop with the forward in a bid to capture the signing of Salah.
Football Insider verdict
Salah’s exceptional form has been gathering attention from all over the world and it should come as no surprise that the likes of Real Madrid are lining up to secure his signing this summer. However, letting the Egyptian winger go would be a massive risk, even if it is a financially huge deal, for there is no guaranteeing that his replacement will have even half the impact next season. Vazquez’s record is impressive but not spectacular, with eight goals and 16 assists across his 51 appearances this season, and there is a definitive gulf between his achievements and Salah’s. Perhaps it comes down to who wins the Champions League final this year – if the Reds pull it off, what more could Salah want, other than a push for the Premier League title? If Real win it, then maybe he will be tempted to make the move to Spain, but right now, the clubs are in very similar positions – and a move might not be best for his career.
In other Liverpool news, the club are to table a mega goal machine offer, he will certainly be at Anfield in 18/19.
