Report: Tottenham swap deal mooted, key figure gives green light
Real Madrid may consider a swap deal in order to secure the signing of Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer after Cristiano Ronaldo gave the green light over a transfer pursuit, according to a report.
Spanish publication Don Balon claim on their website that the Spanish heavyweights and reigning Champions League holders have named the 24-year-old international as their top target, with key figure Ronaldo being given full insight into the plans of club president Florentino Perez.
It is said that the Portuguese attacker knows of, and gives his blessing to, the club’s desire to take Kane to the Bernabeu, and that he is convinced he will be playing alongside the England forward next season, while Real themselves may offer one of their current stars to tempt Spurs into selling up.
The Tottenham hero, who has scored over 20 goals in each of the last four Premier League campaigns, has been in imperious form in front of goal this season, with 33 strikes in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider verdict
Ronaldo is the main man at Real Madrid and although it seems strange him knowing the inner workings of the club, including the transfer targets, it does not come as a surprise. He is the sort of character who demands perfection and would not be happy being stuck playing alongside a second rate striker as he chases further success with Los Blancos. However he may well be wrong about his prediction of playing alongside Kane next season, with Spurs looking like they will resist any temptation to sell up, no matter the money put on the table. Still, it could all change over the coming months and Tottenham fans will be hoping he is turning out in the white of the north London side, and not Real, next season.
