Premier League sides Tottenham and Newcastle United are both ranked surprisingly as the final Premier League payments are revealed by a report.
Nick Harris, who runs the well established Sporting Intelligence Twitter account, a source of reliable and reputable information surrounding finances in sport, claims that despite finishing third and 10th in the top flight, Spurs actually picked up the fourth most money and Newcastle the eighth.

It is revealed that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are set for a payout of £144.4million, more than the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal but less than Liverpool, who picked up £145.9million courtesy of more games televised.
Newcastle meanwhile picked up a reported £123million, more than Burnley and Leicester City above them in the table, and behind only Everton and the top six sides in terms of income.
Football Insider verdict
If this goes to show anything, it is the pulling power that the typically traditional big Premier League sides have over the rest of the league. Spurs finished a well deserved third but it is Liverpool, a place below, who have picked up more money – all because they are the bigger draw on the likes of Sky Sports. The same applies to Newcastle, who were televised 18 times, 11 games more than Burnley got to see themselves on the cameras. Success might be one thing, but, as evidenced at the very top of the table, it does not get you all the rewards, with Manchester United edging out rivals and title winners Manchester City by £300,000 to top the earnings table. Still, the money is what helps provide the entertainment to fans and there will be few complaints about the sort of cash being splashed so long as supporters see the best talents week in, week out.
