Tottenham are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claim that Spurs could revive their interest in the 21-year-old after having a loan approach turned down two years ago.
The report details that the north London club are long-term admirers of PSG’s academy graduate and Rabiot has hinted he would be open to a potential move to a big club.
“I am under contract until 2019 and I do not think that I am in a rush,” Rabiot said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror. “If there are offers from big clubs, that obviously demands that they are considered.
“Clubs like Real Madrid, they are great clubs but, truly, the most important thing is the present and I am concentrating on what I am doing right now, that is the best thing to do.”
Spurs will be hoping they can compete with Europe’s biggest clubs if the highly rated youngster is made available in the future.
Rabiot has risen through the ranks at France’s elite side PSG in recent seasons and is now a regular starter under Unai Emery.
The Frenchman has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season and recently helped his side beat Barcelona 4-0 in the first-leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs could do with extra reinforcements in the summer if they are to clinch a first Premier League title and needs players that will actually improve their squad. Rabiot is an exceptional talent that has already racked up huge experience in France with PSG. He would be an excellent addition at White Hart Lane if they could secure a deal for him, but it would surely take a large sum to prize him away. The central midfielder is well rounded player and is very intelligent in possession. Spurs already have Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama as excellent options in the heart of midfield, while academy product Harry Winks has made the breakthrough to the first-team. Rabiot would certainly add another dimension to the squad and would arrive with good European pedigree.
