Report: Attacker axed as Poch set to make five changes for PL clash with West Ham
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to make five changes to his starting lineup to face West Ham this evening, according to a report.
Football London report that the Argentine manager is to shuffle his team in order to utilise some fresher legs following a busy Christmas period.
Both Tottenham and West Ham will have to play this rescheduled game just two days after their last competitive fixtures, so fatigue levels are high amongst the players.
Speaking to Football London, Pochettino hinted that the record-breaking Harry Kane should be fit following his illness which kept him on the bench against Swansea on Tuesday.
Injuries are prohibtting Eric Lamela and Victor Wanyama, who both made their first appearances versus swansea in a long time due to various issues – so it is unlikely that they will see much action.
Danny Rose is still sidelined, so Ben Davies is likely to play this important fixture in order to maintain pace with the League leaders – although a much needed cup tie is on its way this weekend.
In the midfield – Moussa Dembele is back in training and Harry Winks is also at full fitness, suggesting that both are going to feature heavily versus West Ham.
Sissoko could appear in order to give Eriksen, Alli or Son a rest – although a lot of fans have been far from impressed by his output so far this season. Football London think that it is Son who will be the attacker that’s axed for the game.
Football London’s team selection is as follows:
Lloris, Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Winks, Dembele; Alli, Eriksen, Sissoko, Kane. That would see Llorente, Son, Trippier, Dier and Lamela dropping to the bench.
In other Tottenham news, one player could face a long spell on the sideline and must undergo serious tests.
