Report: West Ham duo to be monitored by Southgate against West Brom

By Amir Mir

England manager Gareth Southgate will be in attendance on Saturday afternoon to watch West Ham ace Andy Carroll take to the field against West Brom at the London Stadium.

The Daily Mail claim that the Three Lions boss will check out Carroll as Southgate plans for his forthcoming international fixtures against Germany and Lithuania in March.

It is said Hammers workhorse Michail Antonio is another player who will be looking to impress the recently appointed national manager.

Southgate’s side travel to their bitter rivals Germany on 22 March for an international friendly before taking on Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier four days later at Wembley.

Target-man Carroll could take to the field for those encounters after his recent impressive run of form in front of goal in the Premier League.

Carroll has played 12 league games this season for Slaven Bilic’s side, scoring six goals, including four in his last four matches.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle man, who made his debut for his home country in 2010, has nine England caps to his name, scoring two goals.

By contrast, versatile attacker Antonio was last called up by England when Sam Allardyce was in charge but he did not take to the field.

This season, he has been one of Bilic’s most consistent players, scoring eight goals in 23 league games and supplying five assists.

In other West Ham news, Andy Carroll has shared what is giving him great delight at the club.
