Report: This is how much West Ham want for Payet as they play hardball over transfer
By Amir Mir
West Ham want £40million for wantaway attacker Dimitri Payet, according to a report.
The Daily Star claim that Marseille transfer target Payet won’t apologise to the club for his actions as he seeks a move away from the London Stadium.
Payet recently told the Premier League outfit that he wants to leave with manager Slaven Bilic opting to leave him out of the squad that beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
It is said that the Frenchman trained alone on Tuesday at Chadwell Heath, where the club’s younger players are based.
Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have offered £20million for their former player, but it is said that the Hammers are holding out for closer to double that offer.

The 29-year-old joined the Irons from the Stade Velodrome during the summer of 2015 as he went on to establish himself as a key player for the club.
However, his form dipped during the early part of this Premier League campaign as Bilic’s side were flirting with relegation.
It is now said that co-chairman David Sullivan will not hold talks with Payet this week as he plays hardball with the player, after talks on Monday with Marseille lasted just 15 minutes.
Football Insider verdict:
West Ham should continue to play hardball with Marseille until they meet their valuation of Dimitri Payet. If the French club don’t match what they are asking then they should continue their stance of keeping Payet away from the senior team. The club proved during their last league outing that they can cope without the playmaker. Therefore, the Hammers should continue their stance until their valuation is met or Payet apologises to the London club. The France international has let the club down and truthfully, regardless of what he does or says, should not play for the club again. The club has entered a game of brinkmanship with Marseille and shouldn’t blink first.
