Arsenal may be forced to sell first-team duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil because they won’t be able to offer them big contracts, according to a report.
The Express claim Arsene Wenger is desperate to seal new deals with his star men as the club are prepared to hold contract talks with Ozil when he returns from the international break.
It is said Arsenal are prepared to give both players bumper pay rises to ensure they sign extensions, with their current deals running out in 2018.
But the problem for the north London club is that in doing so they will shatter their wage structure.
Sanchez could spark a £50 million battle between Manchester City and Juventus if he fails to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
Forward Sanchez currently earns £130,000-a-week, while playmaker Ozil is the highest paid player at the club at £140,000-a-week.
It is said the duo are looking to earn between £200,000 and £250,000-a-week, figures that only interested clubs Manchester United and Manchester City are willing to pay.
Both Sanchez and Ozil have been in blistering form this season.
Chile international Sanchez has scored eight goals in 15 Premier League and Champions League games this term.
By contrast German World Cup winner Ozil has scored seven goals and supplied four assists in 14 games.
In other Arsenal transfer news, this midfield ace has reached a landmark during his international career.
