Liverpool’s Emre Can, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has admitted that he could “sign for Liverpool” tomorrow and that his issues with the club aren’t not about money.
In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, the midfielder revealed that he is just focused on this season, and that he lets his agent deal with his contract issues.
“It is not about money, that’s all I can say,” the midfielder admitted before saying, “yes I could [sign a pre-contract with another club next month], but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool, we’ll see.”
This is positive news for Reds fans, especially as Liverpool Echo’s earlier story referenced a Tuttosport’s interview with Oliver Bierhoff who claimed Can was “60-80%” certain to sign for Juventus.
Jurgen Klopp has previously spoke of Can’s contract situation and made it clear that he would like the central midfielder to stay at Liverpool, though despite negotiations beginning in June 2016, no new contract has been agreed to yet.
The 23-year-old has featured 18 times for Liverpool across all competitions and has scored three goals and grabbed two assists so far.
The German midfielder has been at Anfield since moving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, and has made a grand total of 147 appearances for the Reds.
In other Liverpool news, this 22-year-old admits he is unsure about his future with the Reds.
