Celtic reported explosive player boost can add new drive into flat Rodgers attack
While Celtic are in Russia to prepare for their Europa League second leg tie against Russia, there was a bit of good injury news from back in Glasgow.
The Scottish Sun are reporting that Patrick Roberts is set to make his long-awaited return from injury for the Bhoys, after missing almost four months of football.
The report goes on to claim that the 21-year-old is set to play a development side game against Partick on Friday, and if he gets through it unscathed he may well make the first-team squad to face Aberdeen on Sunday.
The return to fitness of the on-loan Manchester City winger would be coming at a great time for Brendan Rodgers.
The manager’s attack has looked flat on occasion recently, it was particularly notable in the goalless draw against St Johnstone.
Roberts has the ability to make things happen, his explosive play was a feature towards the end of last season as the Hoops bulldozed their way to a domestic treble.
Even in his cameo appearances this season, against the likes of Anderlecht and Rangers have had a positive impact on the side.
Roberts could make a huge difference to the side between now and his return to Manchester at the end of the season, as the Hoops aim to complete a unique second consecutive domestic treble.
