Chelsea are ready to seal a new £34.3million Chelsea contract with Willian, Football Insider sources understand.
The midfielder is keen to sign a deal that will lift his salary to £120,000-a-week and run until 2021.
Willian’s current £80,000-a-week agreement has two-and-a-half years and he is in advanced talks with the Premier League champions about an extension.
It has been reported that Willian could leave in the summer if Chelsea do not qualify for next season’s Champions League.
But a Chelsea source has told Football Insider that there is confidence among the club hierarchy that Willian will extend his three-year spell at the club.
Talks have been taking place for months about an extension and all parties are now confident that an agreement is nearly in place.
“The club knows exactly how I feel,” Willian said in a recent interview. “I am very happy here. it was always my dream to come here when I was playing in Ukraine the realisation of a dream. I want to stay.
“But at the same time my head is calm, I am just going to see how things go. I’m happy.
“I tend to not get involved in that side of things too much. I leave it up to my agent to deal with it but the club knows exactly how I feel.”
Willian is Chelsea’s second leading scorer this season with 10 goals and has been the most consistently impressive player for the club during what has been a difficult campaign.
In other Chelsea news, the club are expecting offers this summer for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
