EXCLUSIVE By Wayne Veysey
Leeds United rising star Matthew Downing has agreed the terms of a new contract with the club, according to the Football Association.
New documents registered with the governing body show that the left-back, 18, signed a fresh deal with the Championship giants on 8 December.
There has been no announcement from Leeds about a new contract for Downing, although that is not unusual for academy players at the club.
Paperwork on the official FA website shows that an agreement was reached for the youngster to extend his association with Leeds more than two months ago.

Downing joined Leeds at the age of eight and has progressed through the club’s ranks.
He was one of a number of youngsters at the club who signed one-year contracts last summer as owner Andrea Radrizzani sanctioned a mass of new deals.
Now it appears that Downing has been handed an extension by the Yorkshire giants, who have stated that a key part of the club’s strategy is investing in the best young talent both at home and across Europe.
Leeds United academy manager Adam Underwood has previously hailed 2016 apprentice of the year Downing as “a model apprentice; talented, hard-working and humble”.
