Revealed: Haji Wright’s response to Leeds United whispers
Haji Wright and Coventry are set to reject Leeds’ advances in January as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his attack.
Sources told Football Insider that Leeds are eager to sign Wright after his stellar form with the Sky Blues in the past three seasons.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds are prioritising an attacker in January given their goalscoring troubles in the Premier League.
The USA international certainly fits the bill for what Farke is looking for, yet the deal will prove tricky to complete given Coventry‘s determination to gain promotion.

Wright not looking to disrupt World Cup 2026 plans as he intends to stay at Coventry
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Sky Blues are in no rush to cash in on the 27-year-old.
Coventry manager Frank Lampard turned down Rangers’ approaches for their previously vacant role, highlighting his commitment to the club’s promotion aspirations.
This will fill Wright with confidence of continuing his superb goalscoring form under the ex-Everton boss, especially with the forward’s contract expiring at the end of the 2026-27 season.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “They [Coventry] will want to keep hold of their star striker as they want to try and continue their fine form and try and win promotion to the Premier League, which would be huge for the club.
“He’s under contract until 2027, so they’re under no immediate pressure to cash in on him and, the situation Coventry find themselves in now with Frank Lampard‘s side flying, they won’t want to lose any of their top players in January.
“They’ll want to now look to finish the job off and win promotion back to the Premier League and, for the player himself, seems he’s happy at Coventry.

“He’s playing well and he’ll have his eyes on the World Cup with the USA in the summer as well, so moving midway through season might not be ideal for him.
“So, I would fully expect Coventry to keep hold of Haji Wright and the player himself looks like he’s happy there and Coventry don’t really need to sell.”
Patrick Bamford’s dreams of Coventry permanent move fading away
Both the Whites and the Sky Blues have been linked by incoming and outgoing players in the last few months.

However, sources have told Football Insider that it looks unlikely that Patrick Bamford will complete a permanent move to Coventry.
The Englishman left Leeds by mutual consent last summer and has been training under his former teammate Lampard to regain fitness.
Yet, it appears that the ex-Chelsea player turned manager doesn’t envision Bamford a part of his long-term thinking, and is merely allowing him to train whilst he looks for a new club.
