Revealed: How Newcastle can lure Sandro Tonali into agreeing mega deal
Newcastle United are making plans to keep Sandro Tonali at the club despite clubs keeping a close eye on his situation at St James’ Park.
The Italy international’s current contract is set to expire in 2028, leading to suggestions he could leave despite his recent form under Eddie Howe.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in December 2024 that AC Milan and Juventus were interested in Tonali.
That comes amid long-term interest in a return to Italy, with recent suggestions Tonali could struggle to turn down Juventus if they make a move in 2026.
However, the Magpies have been steadfast in their desire not to lose the midfielder and are now moving to deter any interest in his signature.

Newcastle told how to convince Sandro Tonali to sign a new deal
Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle are planning to open talks with Tonali over a contract extension to keep him at St James’ Park.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Magpies believe continued success in the Premier League and competing in the Champions League will be enough to convince him to stay at St James’ Park.
The midfielder is not believed to be in any rush to leave the club as long as they are competing for silverware, while the offer of a contract would kill off any speculation.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “As long as Newcastle are competing for silverware or able to offer Champions League football to Sandro Tonali, I don’t think he will be in any rush to leave St James’ Park as well.
“He’s under contract until 2028.
“I’m sure the club will sit down and have discussions over a potential new contract just to sort of ward off that interest and kill off that speculation of a possible move back to Italy.
“You’ve got to remember Newcastle stood by Tonoli after all the off-field stuff with the betting suspension and everything else.

“So they’ll be hoping that he would show a bit of loyalty and decide to stay at Newcastle as well.
“Yeah, I don’t see any move for him in the immediate future back to Italy.”
After Alexander Isak’s deadline day move to Liverpool and the disruption it caused behind the scenes, the Magpies are determined to avoid similar situations with key players.
Tonali’s stance on agreeing new Newcastle contract revealed
Brown told Football Insider on 18 October that Tonali is open to extending his Newcastle contract in the coming months with new talks being lined up.
Despite the interest in a return to his native Italy, Tonali is keen to repay the Magpies for their backing while he was banned due to a betting rule breach.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have been tipped to extend star players’ contracts, with Bruno Guimaraes looking likely to pen a new deal at St James Park in the near future.

Newcastle are extremely reluctant to lope any star players despite ongoing speculation and are now stepping up efforts to commit them to new deals.
The midfielder has been highly praised for his performances so far this season, with Steve Sidwell going as far as to suggest Tonali could become a Newcastle legend.
