Revealed: Liam Manning’s stance on Norwich City sack as ‘the fans aren’t happy’

Liam Manning is fighting for his job at Norwich City after a dismal start to the season and has been warned he must start winning games.

The Canaries have dropped to 20th in the table following a 1-0 defeat to Bristol City, with just two wins in their opening ten Championship games.

They are now on a six-game unbeaten run and have yet to win a game at home across all competitions this season, adding to growing concerns behind the scenes.

Norwich fans are beginning to grow frustrated with the manager, with some calls for his dismissal and ongoing doubts about whether he can turn their poor form around.

Norwich sacked Johannes Hoff Thorup at the end of last season, but after a slow start under Manning, could be forced to make another big decision.

Liam Manning determined to turn around Norwich City form

Football Insider revealed on 19 October that Manning is at risk of being sacked by Norwich if results at Carrow Road do not improve quickly.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Manning is not panicking and remains confident he can get a tune out of his side to recover from what has been a dreadful start to the season so far.

The former Bristol City boss remains very highly rated within the game and is seen as a promising young manager despite his poor start and could be given time to turn things around.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Look, he’s a good young manager, Manning. He’s not panicking just yet as well. He still feels that he can turn things around.

As we’ve said every week, managers live and die by results, and Manning is no different to anybody.

Obviously results haven’t been good enough for Liam Manning and Norwich of late.

“It was a massive game against his old club, Bristol City. After that went wrong for him, it just increases the pressure even more.

“So look, he needs victories, he needs to help Norwich back up that table as well, but again, pressure is building. The fans aren’t happy with how things are currently at Carrow Road.

I don’t think anybody at the club would have envisaged them being where they are after 10 games.

While there is pressure from high up at Norwich, the growing discontent in the crowd is also having a direct impact on the manager’s future, with uncertainty growing.

Norwich fans calling for Manning to be sacked

As a result of their dismal start to the season, Manning is now at serious risk of losing his job, with the pressure on his position growing more and more intense.

Just one point is keeping the Canaries out of the relegation zone as things stand, despite pre-season tips of an outside chance of reaching the playoffs.

The boss has also lost the backing of large sections of the fanbase at Carrow Road, with a growing feeling he could soon be replaced as their manager.

Two managers have already lost their jobs in the early stages of the Championship season, with Paulo Pezzolano sacked by Watford, and Ruben Selles dismissed by Sheffield United.

Both clubs opted to move quickly in their search for replacements, as Watford brought Javi Gracia back to Vicarage Road, and Chris Wilder returned to Sheffield United.
