Revealed: Major update on Man City signing Dani Olmo

Man City will struggle to complete a deal for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that City are exploring alternative targets to West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, who is under investigation by the FA for potential betting rule breaches.

Football Insider revealed last week (15 August) that the treble-winners had been prepared to pay £80million for the Brazil international.

City are now set to pursue alternative targets and Olmo is believed to be among the names wanted by Pep Guardiola’s side.

Football Insider revealed City’s initial interest in the RB Leipzig star last month (18 July).

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Guardiola’s side will find it difficult to secure a full agreement for the 25-year-old’s signature.

RB Leipzig are desperate to keep the Spain international at the club having already lost Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol so far this summer.

Gvardiol has already made the move to the Etihad Stadium – with Nkunku and Szoboszlai also joining Premier League sides.

Olmo has already racked up four goals in just two games in the new campaign – including a hattrick in the DFL-Supercup against Bayern Munich last week.

He notched five goals and 11 assists across 31 appearances in all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.

The midfielder is under contract at Leipzig until June 2027 after penning renewed terms back in June.
