Revealed: Man United fans told to brace for amazing Bruno Fernandes news

Bruno Fernandes’ future at Man United is set to be dictated by their success under Michael Carrick in the latter stages of this season.

Fernandes has been United‘s best and most consistent player since his January 2020 arrival from Sporting CP for a fee of around £47million.

The Portuguese playmaker has picked up a whole host of individual awards for his standout Red Devils performances over the last six years, but has only won two major trophies at club level in that time.

He has continued to shine this season, despite United’s woes, with five goals and 10 assists in 20 Premier League appearances so far.

Fernandes has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia as he nears the final year of his contract, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, his future could hinge on how well United finish this season under Michael Carrick.

Champions League qualification will be a big factor in Fernandes’ plans

Football Insider have revealed that Fernandes has no plans to join a Saudi Pro League club soon, but his talents are sure to attract the attention of numerous top clubs as he enters the final year of his initial contract.

His United deal runs until 2027 and has a one-year extension option included, but the 31-year-old may decide to leave even earlier depending on how they get on over the next few months.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “His future will probably be decided on where he sees Man United going. Will they be regular qualifiers for the Champions League competing for silverware?

If that’s the case, I’m sure Bruno Fernandes would be happy to stay at Manchester United. He is the club-captain there as well, and such an influential figure around the club.

“But if United’s ambition doesn’t match his then maybe that would open the door for a move away, but look, he’s under contract until 2027 with the option of a further year

“I’m sure United fans would love Fernandes to stay, but a lot will depend on their progress between now and the end of the season.

“If they get Champions League qualification then that could go a long way to keeping him I’m sure.”

Jadon Sancho has no future at Man United

One player contracted to United who will almost certainly be leaving the club this summer is Jadon Sancho, as he spends this term out on loan at Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old last played for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 Community Shield, as he was frozen out by both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim while being sent out on loan to Chelsea and Unai Emery’s side.

Sancho has struggled at Villa, with just one goal and no assists in 21 appearances so far, and he is not set to link back up with Fernandes anytime soon at Old Trafford.

Sources have told Football Insider that United have made a final decision on Sancho and have no plans to renew his contract, while Villa are not planning to offer him a permanent deal right now either.
