EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Daniel James’ deadline-day transfer to Leeds United on a permanent basis is not dependent on them winning promotion to the Premier League, Football Insider understands.
James is on the verge of a move to Leeds with the Wales international currently undergoing a medical at Elland Road.
Reports claimed that James will join initially on loan and the deal will become permanent if Leeds are promoted from the Championship.
However, a source close to the club has revealed exclusively to Football Insider that the deal for James is a permanent one and is not dependent on Leeds winning promotion this season.
Leeds are understood to be paying a fee which could rise to £8million for James with the flying winger seen a key addition for Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa going forward.
James has been a long-term target for Leeds and his arrival will come as a major boost for the club’s promotion push.
Fans will be delighted that the Wales international is set to join permanently rather than on loan.
In other Leeds United transfer news, it can be revealed a huge bid has just been tabled for an Elland Road first-team star.
