Revealed: Postecoglou says ‘yes’ to Tottenham, deal will be finalised this week – sources

Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou has accepted an offer from Tottenham to be their next manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The Australian, 57, is now set to become the next Spurs manager and a deal is expected to be finalised this week.

Tottenham are set to pay Celtic what sources says is a “very low” compensation sum.

Postecoglou is on a rolling 12-month contract at Celtic and has resisted offers from the club to extend it.

Tottenham have been working on a deal to land the Australian over the last week and he has now said “yes”.

Postecoglou further enhanced his reputation by overseeing a domestic treble with Saturday’s Scottish Cup triumph over Inverness.

Spurs were already convinced he is the man to transform their fortunes following the collapse of negotiations with Arne Slot.

He had been close to agreeing terms before deciding to stay at Feyenoord.

The Londoners turned their attention to Postecoglou and, barring any late hitches, he should be announced as Antonio Conte’s permanent successor.

Speaking to Sky Sports after his side’s historic treble win (3 June), the Australian refused to commit himself to either staying or leaving.

The 57-year-old said he wanted to “enjoy the moment” of the club’s success and didn’t want to take anything away from the celebrations.

The winning of this year’s Scottish Cup, alongside the League Cup and Scottish Premiership title, booked the Hoops an eighth treble, the most domestic trebles won by any side.
