Revealed: Rangers advance in talks to sign Cyriel Dessers – sources
Rangers are pursuing a deal to sign Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers with talks now underway, sources have told Football Insider.
Dessers has been on the Gers’s shortlist of targets for some time and it is believed £5million could be enough to seal his signature this summer.
The Light Blues have already begun talks with Cremonese over a potential move for the 28-year-old, whose contract runs until 2027.
The Nigeria international put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Italian club last summer after joining from Genk but it is believed he would be let go if his £5m asking price is met.
Cremonese have just been relegated from Serie A to Serie B and are keen to trim costs.
The striker scored ten goals in 32 appearances for the Italian club across all competitions in the just-completed season and provided three assists in those outings.
Michael Beale is keen to add another striker to his ranks following the departure of Alfredo Morelos when his Ibrox contract expires.
Morelos was an integral part of the Gers’ success in recent years and became the clubs’ all-time top European goalscorer, netting important goals across all competitions during his tenure at the club.
Beale is also looking to bring in players across the front line and Football Insider revealed on 8th June that the Gers are plotting a new move for Swansea attacker Morgan Whittaker.

Rangers had multiple bids rejected for the attacker in January but are looking to submit a new offer after losing both Morelos and Ryan Kent following the expiration of their contracts.
The Gers confirmed the departures of Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander, whose contracts also end and will officially leave on 1 July when the transfer window opens.
