Revealed: The £10m payout agreed by Chelsea to seal record deal

Moises Caicedo’s agent received £10million for his role in securing the player’s £115million Chelsea deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The London giants beat Liverpool to the British record capture of the midfielder from Brighton earlier this week.

Chelsea signed Caicedo on an eight-year contract and are understood to be paying an initial £100m, plus £15m in performance-related add-ons.

Intriguingly, sources have told Football Insider that nearly 10 per cent of the total package will go to Caicedo’s representative for wrapping up a huge deal that featured late drama when Liverpool were hijacked.

The Blues were in negotiations for the 21-year-old midfielder for many weeks but were pressured into increasing their offer after a late offer from Liverpool was accepted by the Seagulls.

Caicedo is one of eight new signings to have arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Todd Boehly continuing to spend big in the transfer window to back new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Ecuadorian could make his debut for the Blues on Sunday afternoon when Chelsea travel to West Ham in the Premier League.

Chelsea have notoriously been big spenders when it comes to agent fees, with the Blues paying £43.2million to agents between the period of February 2022 and January 2023.

That figure saw them rank second in the Premier League for agent fees behind only Manchester City.

The London club have once again topped the spending charts in England after splashing £329million on new players this summer.
