Revealed: The new price tag for Liverpool target Matheus Nunes if Wolves relegated
Wolves are set to slash the asking price of Liverpool target Matheus Nunes to around £30million if the club is relegated this season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Reds have had a long-term interest in the 24-year-old midfielder and tried to sign him from Sporting Lisbon last summer before missing out to Wolves.
He eventually made a club-record £38million move to Molineux, but Liverpool have retained an interest in Nunes and have made him a top priority signing this summer.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (7 April) that Liverpool are still working on a deal for Nunes despite Wolves removing his release clause.
It is understood that Nunes had a £44million release clause in his contract, but Wolves have since removed it and are now demanding a fee north of £50million.
However, relegation this season would cause Wolves to slash their summer asking price, with the club aware that they would struggle to pay Nunes’ wages in the Championship.
Nunes scored an incredible goal against Chelsea on the weekend to hand Wolves a crucial three points against Chelsea.

Wolves now sit 12th in the Premier League table, but remain just four points clear of the relegation zone with eight games remaining in the 2022/23 campaign.
Saturday’s goal against Chelsea was Nunes’ first in Wolves colours, with the Portugal international only scoring and assisting once in his 31 appearances across all competitions this season.
