Revealed: The one scenario that would see Oliver Glasner sign a new Crystal Palace deal

Oliver Glasner would potentially sign a new contract at Crystal Palace if one specific scenario were to play out.

Glasner has been linked with the likes of Manchester United after an impressive start to the season in charge of the Eagles.

The 51-year-old is in the final year of his current deal with the South London side, and will be leaving the club next summer as it stands.

However, Crystal Palace are pushing hard to agree a new contract with Glasner, in order to keep him at Selhurst Park for the long-term future.

Oliver Glasner would need a ‘big club’ to lure him away

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that if there are no vacancies at any of the big clubs, then Glasner could stay at Crystal Palace.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that the Austrian manager could remain at Selhurst Park for another two years, and it would take a very attractive deal to draw him away from the South London club.

Palace currently sit sixth in the Premier League, only four points adrift of table-topping Arsenal.

Wyness added that there is no reason for Glasner to leave at the moment.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If there isn’t a vacancy at one of the bigger clubs, then I think you might see him stay for another two years at Palace.

I think it would have to be a big job to get him out of Palace. Steve Parish and the new owner, Woody Johnson, are going to do all they can to support him.

While things are going well for Palace, and they’re right at the top of the table, why would he leave? That’s the way I see things as they stand right now.”

“Certainly, he and his agent will be keeping their ears open and their eyes open to see what could be developing. But I think it would have to be a very attractive deal for him to leave Palace.”

Glasner would be latest victim of Man United

Ruben Amorim is currently under massive pressure at Man United, and Glasner would be one of the favourites to take over if he were sacked.

However, as with Amorim and Erik Ten Hag before him, the Palace boss would likely find it extremely difficult at Old Trafford.

It is clear that the problems at Man United run far deeper than just the manager, as the club have failed to mount a serious Premier League title challenge since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

If Glasner made the switch to the Manchester club, then there is a strong possibility that his reputation could take a massive hit.
