Revealed: Tottenham plot move to sign Jordan Pickford

Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Everton star Jordan Pickford ahead of a potential summer move, sources have told Football Insider.

The Londoners will be in the market for a new goalkeeper in the main window amid doubts over Hugo Lloris’ long-term future.

It is believed that Pickford, 28, is one of Spurs’ top targets and they will continue to closely monitor his situation for the rest of the season.

The England star is looking to move on this summer regardless of whether he is able to help Everton escape relegation.

He is understood to be aware of Tottenham’s interest and is keen on joining them, or any top Premier League club where he would be wearing the number one shirt.

Pickford is widely regarded to have been Everton’s star player in this campaign and also impressed for England at the World Cup.

He has a contract running until 2024 and will be the Merseysiders’ prize asset once Anthony Gordon departs, as expected, to Newcastle United.

The former Sunderland star has kept three clean sheets this season as part of an Everton side which sits 19th in the Premier League.

Long-serving Lloris has come under more and more criticism this season after a number of high-profile gaffes – including most recently in the derby defeat against Arsenal.

The World Cup-winning shot-stopper, who has racked up 442 Spurs appearances, is out of contract in June 2024.

Pickford has already made 230 Premier League appearances and won 50 caps for England despite his relatively young age.

Everton

Tottenham sit fifth in the top-flight, three points adrift of fourth-place Man United having played a game more.

Everton return to action against league leaders Arsenal on 4 February with the chance to climb out of the drop zone.

In other news, Kieran Maguire claims Tottenham could now “terminate” transfer chief’s contract.
