Revealed: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stance on leaving Real Madrid for Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold has no imminent plans to leave Real Madrid and return to the Premier League amid rumours of a shock switch to Man City.

Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool to join Real Madrid at the end of his contract last summer, with the Spanish giants paying £10million to sign him so he could play in the Club World Cup.

He had been a key part of the Reds’ 2024-25 title-winning campaign, as well as previous league and Champions League triumphs, but departed the Premier League for a new challenge at another of the world’s biggest clubs.

The England right-back has only started five La Liga games so far this season, with just 11 appearances since the new season kicked off amid recurring injury issues.

Man City have been backed to make a shock move for Alexander-Arnold, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, he is not planning to return to English football as he fights to succeed at Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold will not be joining Man City

Man United have been installed as the favourites to sign Alexander-Arnold if he were to leave Madrid, but that is not on his agenda just yet.

Joining either City or United would also further affect his poor relationship with Liverpool supporters, and it does not seem likely that he would consider playing for either anytime soon.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Manchester City we know probably are in the market for a right back, but I’m not sure it would go down too well with Liverpool if he was to make that move back to the Premier League with Manchester City.

I think, right now, Trent Alexander-Arnold is just focused on winning his place back in the Real Madrid team and proving his worth there.

I don’t think his plan right now is to be thinking of a move back to the Premier League so soon after leaving.

Omar Marmoush will not be leaving Man City in this window

City have been busy with numerous new signings this month, while numerous younger first-team stars have also left too.

Oscar Bobb has departed for Fulham in a deal worth around £26m, with Marmoush now set to remain at the Etihad Stadium despite being heavily linked away over the last few weeks.

Sources told Football Insider last month that Tottenham had set their sights on Marmoush ahead of January, while Aston Villa recently emerged as the favourites to land his signature.

Football Insider have since revealed that Marmoush will not leaving City before Monday’s deadline, though, with Jeremy Doku currently out injured.
