Revealed: What West Ham senior stars really think of Jarrod Bowen
West Ham new boy Jarrod Bowen has made an instant and favourable impression on his teammates behind the scenes, Football Insider can reveal.
The deadline-day January signing joined from Hull City in a deal worth a potential £22million including add-ons.
A West Ham source told Football Insider that Bowen has “impressed everyone”, including the harder to please players in the squad.
His skill, touch and movement has won admiring glances in training but it is the wide forward’s work-rate that has really stood out.
The West Ham players who follow the Championship were well aware of left-footed Bowen’s outstanding scoring record from his Mohamed Salah-esque position in recent seasons.
But the last-gasp January signing had raised eyebrows in some quarters as Bowen had played only a handful of matches before in the Premier League and so many top-flight clubs had looked at signing him but had held off.

West Ham fought off strong competition from Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, both of whom tabled offers, to land Bowen and the early signs are that it should prove a smart acquisition.
Manager David Moyes did not slot the new man straight into his line-up as he fielded conservation teams against Man City, in particular, and Liverpool.
Bowen was a substitute in both of those games although he did nearly score a late equaliser in the 3-2 defeat at Anfield only to be denied by a brilliant Alisson save.
The new boy made his first start against Southampton last weekend and made the most of it, scoring the opener with his favoured left foot in an emphatic 3-1 win.
Moyes is likely to stick with Bowen ahead of Robert Snodgrass for tomorrow’s trip to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
He offers more goalscoring potential, especially on the counterattack, than the older man, whose deadly set pieces also offer a key point of attack.
Bowen rose through the ranks at Hull to make 131 appearances, scoring an impressive 54 goals as well as supplying 14 assists.
