Revealed: Why Daichi Kamada is refusing to sign a new Crystal Palace contract
Crystal Palace star Daichi Kamada does not want to commit his future to the club until Oliver Glasner has signed a new contract.
Kamada has been key to Palace’s success over the last 12 months under Glasner, who he previously worked with at Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Japan international featured 43 times in all competitions last season, registering two goals and three assists as the Eagles came 12th and won the FA Cup.
He has been a regular starter once again in 2025-26, with 13 in the Premier League up to now, and Palace want to hand Kamada a new contract as his current deal is set to expire next summer.
Nothing has been agreed as yet with his future remaining uncertain ahead of January, when he can sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club, and the reason why he has not extended his contract has now been made clear.

Kamada is waiting to see if Glasner signs a new contract before he commits to Palace
According to a new report from The Mirror, Kamada is believed to be waiting to discover whether Glasner will remain at Selhurst Park long-term before he commits to signing a new deal.
His contract is a “pressing issue” for Palace chiefs and initial talks have been held with his agent Roberto Tukada over fresh terms, but no agreement is set to be reached as yet until the Austrian’s own future is resolved.
The same report claims that formal talks over a possible extension for Glasner are not expected to advance until mid-January, when their packed winter schedule clears up somewhat, so Kamada could well look to sign elsewhere if the manager does not sign a new deal next month.
Glasner looks unlikely to stay at Palace past this season
Glasner has become the most successful manager in Palace’s history this year, but he felt aggrieved at how he was not fully backed in the transfer window following their cup win.
Those disagreements have led to uncertainty around his future, and all the current signs point to him making an amicable exit at the end of this campaign when his deal comes to an end.

Glasner heavily criticised the Crystal Palace board after their recent defeat to Manchester United, and sources have told Football Insider that several clubs are keeping close tabs on his situation as a result.
A manager with his kind of pedigree could well have the pick of teams to join next summer; thus, it feels pretty certain that he leaves, with Kamada seemingly set to join him if it does happen.
