Revealed: Wolves to complete Nico Elvedi signing after talks breakthrough

Wolves are set to complete the signing of Borussia Mochengladbach star Nico Elvedi on Tuesday after a breakthrough in talks, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League club are finalising a deal for the Swiss centre-back, 26, that will be worth around £7.7million.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Monday morning (17th July) that Wolves were in advanced talks to land Elvedi as they step up plans to land a right-sided central defender.

He is now set to put pen to paper on the deal in the coming hours in what will be a major coup for the Premier League club.

Wolves have pressed ahead with a deal for Elvedi as they look to take advantage of his contractual situation at Mochengladbach, where his contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Elvedi has been linked with other Premier League clubs this summer, including Tottenham.

Speaking to German media outlet Bild last month (8 June), Gladbach director Roland Virkus admitted that if the defender did not put pen to paper on a new deal, he would be sold this summer.

Elvedi made 34 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga side last term in a campaign that saw them finish tenth in the German top flight.

The defender netted three goals and was in the starting lineup for all 34 of the matches he featured in.

Wolves are in the market for reinforcements and have money to spend after Ruben Neves’ £47m move to Al Hilal.

The top flight side recently added Craig Dawson to their defensive ranks in January when he put pen to paper on a contract running until 2025.

In other news, Kieran Maguire can’t believe £99m Wolves development.
