Richarlison expected to leave Tottenham for ‘one of three destinations’

Tottenham are preparing to receive offers for Richarlison in the January transfer window amid interest from a number of clubs across world football.

That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his former clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 28-year-old is attracting interest from clubs in Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

This comes after Football Insider revealed last month that Tottenham expect offers for Richarlison and have plans to move him on in the near future.

However, Tottenham are reluctant to entertain Richarlison‘s exit in January and hope to keep hold of him at least until the end of the season when his position will be assessed.

The Brazil international scored as Thomas Frank’s side beat Brentford 2-0, taking his tally to seven for the season, including four in his last six games.

Richarlison unlikely to leave Tottenham in January

Brown told Football Insider on 16 October that Tottenham are plotting a move to sign a striker in case they lose Richarlison mid-way through the season.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that there are no plans to let the Brazil international leave in January.

It’s a tricky situation for Tottenham with Richarlison,” he told Football Insider.

“There has been a lot of talk that he could leave in January and whether they might be prepared to let him go, and in normal circumstances that might be the case.

“I think they are expecting clubs to come in for him, there’s been talk about Brazil, America, Saudi Arabia.

“He’s been too inconsistent for them over his time there, you never know one game he might score and look really good, but then the next he’ll go missing.

“That’s not ideal by any means, but given the situation Tottenham are in with their strikers, he’s been their best bet so far this season.

“So in January, I’m not sure they’re in a position where they would be able to let him go, because at the moment he’s scoring goals and leading the line.

“If he can continue in this vein of form, I think they’ll want to keep him at least until the end of the season when they can then assess what their options are.”

Tottenham set sights on new striker signing

Despite their plans to keep Richarlison beyond the January transfer window, Spurs also also aiming to bolster in his position with a new addition.

Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Tottenham are planning to sign a new striker alongside the addition of a winger when the window opens.

As a result, they have considered a number of options who could become available in January, but may be restricted by spending limits.

Football Insider revealed on 7 December that Tottenham are monitoring Jean-Philippe Mateta as he is now expected to leave Crystal Palace in the near future.

This comes as Crystal Palace may be forced to sell Mateta after their contract talks with the France international stalled over wage disagreements.
