Richarlison opens door for sensational return to Everton after behind-the-scenes talks

Richarlison has become an important player for Tottenham in the absence of Dominic Solanke in what has been a strong start to the season.

Thomas Frank’s side beat Everton 3-0 in their last Premier League fixture, before a frustrating 2-0 defeat against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on 29 October.

They remain third place in the league table after nine games, with five wins, two draws and two defeats, and sit five points shy of league leaders Arsenal.

Richarlison has featured in each of those nine league games so far this season, starting five of those games, and has started in all of their Champions League fixtures.

However, Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Tottenham, with Everton joining the race for the Brazil international in the January transfer window.

Everton considering move to sign Richarlison in January

Football Insider revealed on 17 October that Tottenham are reluctant to sell Richarlison mid-way through the season given his current importance to the side.

However, that has done little to deter the speculation surrounding him, and he would be expected to hold talks about his long-term future should he drop out of the side.

That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Brazil international would be open to leaving Tottenham for the right opportunity.

I’m told Richarlison is still very highly thought of at Everton,” he told Football Insider.

“Personally, he never seems to command a place in the starting XI with any sort of certainty, he’s not consistent enough to be a regular number nine.

“But that’s a decision for the powers that be to decide, and if they look at him and think he would be an improvement on what they’ve got at the moment, they could make a move.

“Not being quite good enough to start every week for Tottenham doesn’t necessarily come into it, it’s about whether he’s an improvement for Everton.

“They want to sign a new striker, because the current two have not been good enough.

“Richarlison isn’t the only one they’re looking at, they will have a few options on their radar.

“In terms of his future at Tottenham, if he’s going to be in and out of the side and not getting consistent starts, he might have a few questions about his place in the team.

“Interest from teams like Everton, who could offer him more regular starts, could tempt him to make a move.

“If that is the case, he’ll speak to Frank and Tottenham about what his role is in their plans, and if he’s not going to be a regular starter, maybe he could move on.

“Then, it will just be about the price tag and whether Spurs will let him go.”

This comes amid speculation that Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham and is interested in assessing his opportunities elsewhere should offers arrive.

MLS outfits join Everton in race to sign Richarlison

While questions have been asked surrounding Everton’s renewed interest in their former striker, they are expected to face competition from elsewhere.

Brown told Football Insider on 13 October that Tottenham could accept offers for Richarlison in January after holding talks over a move to the MLS.

Orlando Pirates are believed to be interested in tempting the Brazil over to the United States, and could explore a deal when the winter window opens.

Football Insider revealed that Richarlison could be tempted to join the MLS outfit, with the league’s reputation on the rise thanks to Lionel Messi’s influence at Inter Miami.

However, sources say it is unlikely he will make the move in January, as the striker believes he still has an important role to play in the Premier League and Champions League.
