Richarlison sends ‘important’ message after his ‘Tottenham bombshell to friends’
Tottenham forward Richarlison took to social media to celebrate an “important” 3-2 Europa League win over Hoffenheim on Thursday (January 23).
The 27-year-old made his first Tottenham start since scoring the winner in their 1-0 Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar at the end of October.
Richarlison was substituted by Ange Postecoglu and replaced by Spurs wonderkid Mikey Moore in the 56th minute, having completed just five passes, three touches in the opposition box, and zero chances created.
It comes amid major doubts over the player’s future, with Football Insider revealing on 17th January that the Brazil international has told friends he wants to quit the club.
James Maddison opened the scoring after just three minutes before captain Heung-Min Son doubled the visitors’ lead in the 22nd.
Anton Stach pulled one back for the Germans, but Son struck for a second time, securing a brace with a fine finish from a tight angle.
David Mokwa made things tense in the 88th minute but it was too little, too late, and Spurs returned to London with all three points.
Richarlison glad to get a chance after a ‘long time’ as Tottenham secure much-needed win
The Brazilian has struggled so far this season, starting just two of his 10 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing one assist in his 342 minutes of action.
Richarlison took to Instagram to commemorate a rare starting in their win over Hoffenheim, saying: “Important 3 points!!! Happy to start playing after a long time. Sunday’s have more!!!”

Tottenham’s win over Hoffenheim sees them climb into sixth in the new Europa League league phase, with 14 points from their seven games.
Tottenham will doubtless be hoping they can put their poor Premier League form behind them as they host Ruud van Nistelrooy’s struggling Leicester City side on Sunday (January 26).
