Rico Lewis sends three-word message to Nico O’Reilly after Man City heroics

Man City booked themselves a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday (1 March) by defeating Plymouth Argyle, but it took some heroics from an unlikely source.

In a team full of superstars, it was a brace from 19-year-old Nico O’Reilly that helped City come back from behind to defeat Plymouth.

The Championship side initially took the lead in the 38th minute through Maksym Talovierov, but they weren’t able to hang onto it this time despite their previous giant killings in the competition this season.

That’s because City’s left-back popped up with a brace to get them back in control before Kevin De Bruyne wrapped the match up in the 90th minute with a third goal.

The result kept City’s hopes of winning a trophy this season alive as this is the only competition they are left in after being knocked out of the EFL Cup and the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola’s men are way off the pace in the Premier League title race and are just focusing on a top-four finish, and they will face Bournemouth in the quarter-finals.

Rico Lewis was impressed with his fellow Man City youngster

Guardiola might have let Cole Palmer slip through his fingers, but he does have several young stars looking to become the next Phil Foden and establish themselves as a regular in the team.

Rico Lewis is one who has managed to achieve that this season as the 20-year-old has now played 35 games in all competitions.

Lewis took to Instagram to send his fellow City youngster a message as he said, “Next round. Congrats my brother @niczz10.”

City almost lost him during the January transfer window as Football Insider revealed that Chelsea tried to sign him.

Guardiola opted to keep O’Reilly around, and financial adviser Stefan Borson has exclusively told Football Insider it would cost at least £40million to sign O’Reilly.
