'Ridiculous', 'Disgraceful' - Newcastle United fans react to Kieran Trippier bust-up with supporter
Newcastle United fans took to social media to give their verdict on Kieran Trippier’s altercation with a fan following the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
Eddie Howe suffered defeat on his return to the Vitality Stadium, with Dominic Solanke’s brace inflicting Newcastle’s fourth loss of the season.
The Magpies dropped down to seventh in the league table as their poor away form continues, while the three points lifted Bournemouth out of the relegation zone and into 17th place.
Following the full-time whistle, Trippier was involved in an altercation with a Newcastle fan after he approached the traveling supporters.
After a fan appeared to question the effort of the players, Trippier reacted by reminding the supporter of Newcastle’s lengthy injury list/
Trippier was asked about the incident after the match and said: “It was just one of those where they were emotional and they have traveled far – we were having a chat.”
Newcastle fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to give their thoughts on the incident with most showing support for the England star.
This supporter suggested that ‘real’ Newcastle fans are fully behind their team.
Others chose to direct their frustration toward the supporter who criticised Trippier in the first place.
This supporter went as far as saying that they were ’embarrassed’ and ‘ashamed’ by Newcastle’s away support on Saturday afternoon.
However, it appears that not all Newcastle fans were on Trippier’s side, with this fan suggesting that he needs to accept some criticism.
