‘Ridiculous’: Everton fans blast James Tarkowski after ‘shocking’ Man United footage emerges

James Tarkowski should be considering retirement according to the Everton fanbase following their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Benjamin Sesko’s second half goal proved to be the difference between the two teams, as David Moyes’ side suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats.

The results dent Everton‘s hopes of European football next season, with a seven-point gap now between them and the top five with 11 Premier League games remaining.

Everton failed to create a big chance against Man United, as their attacking vulnerabilities once again showed.

James Tarkowski ‘needs to go’ after Man United display

Many Everton fans believe Tarkowski was at fault for Man United’s winning goal, with Sesko’s pace leaving the 33-year-old behind.

Sesko finished off a swift counter-attack for Man United after Matheus Cunha’s pass found Bryan Mbeumo in the Everton half.

Mbeumo was one-on-one with Michael Keane before he laid the ball off to Sesko to finish past Jordan Pickford, with Tarkowski unable to keep up with the 22-year-old.

Whilst Keane’s part in the goal has also drawn criticism, Tarkowski has been told he “can’t play any more” after proving ineffective to stop Sesko.

One Everton supporter wants Jarrad Branthwaite and Jake O’Brien to be Moyes’ number one centre-back partnership from now on.

Branthwaite started at right-back against Man United, whilst O’Brien was suspended due to a red card picked up against Bournemouth.

Everton face issue with UEFA

With Everton’s European hopes dented against Man United, the likelihood of them being in the same European competition as Roma next season has become less likely.

Both owned by The Friedkin Group, the two clubs may find themselves in trouble with UEFA and their multi-club ownership rules if they qualify for the same European competition.

Roma are currently fourth in the Serie A table, and are on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Crystal Palace were demoted from the Europa League to the Europa Conference League this season after failing to comply with UEFA rules due to John Textor’s involvement in both the Premier League club and Lyon.

Everton hope to get their European aspirations back on track when they travel to Newcastle next.
