Everton boss

Alex Bruce has blasted Moise Kean’s “ridiculous excuse” after the Everton striker was videoed breaching the Coronavirus lockdown guidelines.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Premier League defender has shot down the suggestion Kean did not realise hosting a party was breaking the rules during the pandemic.

The Athletic report that Kean, who had a phone call with director of football Marcelo Brands over his behaviour, had not understood he was breaching the rules of the UK-wide lockdown.

However, Bruce has rubbished the claim that the 20-year-old did not know what he was doing was wrong.

Bruce told Football Insider: “I think it’s a bit of a ridiculous excuse – has he got a telly in his house?

“I think it was a bit of a mistake that young lads can make – the likes of Jack Grealish and the rest of them have obviously had similar things and been slapped across the knuckles.

“He just needs to concentrate on what he does on the pitch and keep himself on the back pages and not the front ones.”

Kean has endured a difficult first season at Goodison Park, with just one goal in 23 Premier League appearances so far.

He has come under fire for his disciplinary issue, with former manager Marco Silva leaving him out a squad as a result of turning up late to team meetings earlier in the season.
