
Rob McElhenney reacts to emotional Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham message
Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has responded to Ryan Reynolds’ heartfelt tribute to a club legend.
The fairytale for the Welsh giants is set to continue after they secured promotion to the Championship, finishing runners-up in League One.
Hollywood owners Reynolds and McElhenney have revitalised the club and the local community, turning the Red Dragons into strong competitors once again.
In their second full season at the club, Wrexham won the National League and promotion to League Two.
This was backed up by successive promotions the following two seasons, finishing second in both League One and League Two respectively.
It has been 44 years since the Welsh side have been in the second tier of English football, and they’ll be looking to go one step further and reach the Premier League.

Reynolds and McElhenney send condolences to Wrexham legend
Taking to Instagram (22 July), Reynolds posted a touching photo alongside his co-owner as well as Wrexham footballing icon Joey Jones who passed away aged 70.
Jones made made more than 100 appearances for the Red Dragons as well as being a part of the 1976-77 Liverpool side that won the league and European cup double.
In the post, Reynolds wrote: “I’m really glad I got to spend time with you…Thanks for the stories.
“Condolences to his family, friends and Mickey. Rest up, Joey. Big second half coming up.”
Tagged in the post, McElhenney liked the photo, sharing in remembering Jones’ legacy.
True club legend who will be missed
Known by all who support and work at the club, Jones’ passing will be felt across the city.
With a playing career that span across Wrexham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Huddersfield, groups of fans will be unison to pay their respects for a loved man.
Jones played for the Red Dragons 479 times, also making 72 appearances for the Welsh national team.
Additionally, the club icon was an integral part of their 1990s revival as part of Brian Flynn’s coaching team.
Wrexham are planning to commemorate Jones’ memory with a statue outside the new Kop stand in the public plaza that will be accessible to all fans.
