Robbie Savage has stated that Manchester Untied ace Michael Carrick would be in his team of the season so far.
The 35-year-old has emerged as a crucial player under Jose Mourinho this campaign and has formed a strong partnership alongside Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in midfield.
He has been a main driving force behind the club’s recent form and has played every minute in victories over West Brom, Crystal Palace and Tottenham in their last three games.
The Premier League has seen the likes of N’Golo Kante and Adam Lallana excelling in midfield this campaign, but Savage claims that Carrick would be in his team of the season.
The ex-Wales international has praised the influence of Carriack and ranked him as one of the best in the league.
“He (Carrick) does bring experience, good use of the ball, sound positional sense and awareness of space. He’d be in my Premier League team of the season so far,” Savage said, as quoted by the Mirror.
Carrick is undefeated in the 13 appearances he has made this season across all competitions and has forced his way into Mourinho’s best starting XI.
The experienced central midfielder appeared to be on the fringes of the squad, but his performances have earned him a starting spot.
He is extremely popular with the United supporters and gives the team control of possession in the midfield.
Carrick has racked up 439 appearances for the Red Devils since his move from Tottenham in 2006 and is still a crucial component to the team.
