Robby McCrorie told to 'remember where he is' amid 'big' Rangers claim - expert
Alan Hutton has told Robby McCrorie to “remember where he is” as Rangers close in on a deal for Jack Butland.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said McCrorie has to be “ready for the fight” because the club “have to” bring in a new keeper this summer.
Last month (29 April), sources told this site that the Light Blues opened talks over signing Butland on a free transfer.
According to the Daily Mail (19 May), the keeper is close to agreeing a move after showing a willingness to fit into the Glasgow club’s wage structure.
The 30-year-old is currently on loan at Crystal Palace from Man United and both his loan and United contract will expire in June.
The Ibrox club confirmed (23 May) that long-serving shot stopper Allan McGregor will be leaving at the end of the season when his contract runs out.

McCrorie, 25, has been enjoying more game time since Celtic wrapped up the league title earlier this month and has conceded just one goal in his three starts.
When asked if McCrorie will be disappointed if the Gers bring in a new number one, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he needs to remember where he is.
“He is at Rangers, there is always going to be competition for places. He has been playing games, he has had a great opportunity and shown exactly what he can do.
“Michael Beale has seen what he is all about, he knows he can handle the occasion so it is whether or not he can do it for a long period of time and not make any mistakes. That is the big pressure on you.
“I think they do have to bring in another goalkeeper so it is up to McCrorie in pre-season to take his opportunity. He has to be ready for the fight to show he is capable of wearing the number one jersey.“
