Robert Sanchez responds to Chelsea fans after they destroy him
Robert Sanchez remained upbeat on social media despite receiving criticism for his recent Chelsea performances.
Sanchez has endured a difficult season at Stamford Bridge but continues to be Enzo Maresca’s first-choice option between the sticks.
He started in Chelsea’s narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham, making a vital late save to deny Heung-Min Son and secure a crucial three points for his side.
However, Chelsea fans have called for Sanchez to be sold this summer window as he has made continuous errors this season.
The 27-year-old currently leads the Premier League for the most errors directly leading to goals this season, with five. His distribution has also come under fire, with there being a growing sense of anxiety whenever the ball is at his feet.
Nevertheless, Sanchez appeared in good spirits following the derby win, posting a message to fans after the full-time whistle.
Enzo Maresca backs Robert Sanchez despite mounting pressure from Chelsea fans
Sanchez took to Instagram after the match to say: “+3 on an amazing atmosphere, big comeback after the break.”
The Spaniard earned plenty of praise from teammates, with Tosin Adarabioyo commenting: “Save of the season!” while Marc Cucurella responded with a series of emojis. Other squad members such as Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku also liked the post, showing their support.
Despite the unity in the dressing room, Sanchez has come under constant criticism from Chelsea supporters throughout the season. He was even dropped for four matches in favour of Filip Jorgensen, only regaining his spot shortly before the international break.
Chelsea fans have voiced their frustration at manager Maresca for his continued faith in Sanchez, with some even claiming the decision could contribute to the Italian’s potential sacking if results do not improve.
Sanchez has made 26 appearances this season, including 24 in the Premier League, keeping just six clean sheets in that time.

Chelsea fans call for Djordje Petrovic to replace Sanchez after standout loan spell
While Sanchez has retained the goalkeeper role under Maresca, fans have turned their attention to on-loan goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, who has been in impressive form at Strasbourg.
The 25-year-old has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable goalkeepers, conceding just 29 goals and keeping eight clean sheets so far.
Chelsea fans have been impressed by Petrovic’s form during his loan spell and have urged the club to start him when he returns.
Maresca may have a difficult decision on his hands when pre-season begins, but for now, it’s Sanchez who remains the man in goal.
