Robert Sanchez sends message to Cole Palmer after catastrophic Chelsea twist

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez thanked teammate Cole Palmer for bailing him out in their 4-2 win over Brighton on Saturday (September 28).

The 26-year-old goalkeeper was arguably responsible for both of Brighton’s goals, inexplicably rushing out to try and punch away a deflection for Brighton’s first and passing the ball directly to Carlos Baleba for their second.

Thankfully for the Spaniard, Palmer, 22, was on hand to once again save him and Chelsea, becoming the first player to score four goals in the first half in Premier League history.

Enzo Maresca’s side are well and truly in contention for Champions League qualification after an impressive start to the Premier League season, winning four, drawing one, and losing one of their opening six games.

The ‘keeper is prone to the odd mistake, as demonstrated in the victory over his former club Brighton, taking to Instagram to own up and thank Palmer.

Palmer is proving the doubters wrong once again having made 10 Premier League goal contributions so far this season, equal with Man City’s Erling Haaland.

Chelsea next face Belgian club Gent in their first Europa Conference League league phase game of the season on Thursday (October 3).
