Robert Sanchez sends message to Filip Jorgensen after Chelsea development
Chelsea goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen are locked in a battle to be first-choice under Enzo Maresca.
Sanchez, 27, has been Maresca’s preferred Premier League goalkeeper so far this season, playing in all of Chelsea’s league games as they sit in third, one point behind Man City in second.
While things are looking up at Chelsea under their new Italian manager, Sanchez has been consistently inconsistent, conceding 14 goals and keeping just two clean sheets.
Jorgensen, 22, who joined from Spanish side Villareal in the summer, has largely impressed in the limited chances he’s had, playing a starring role in their 2-0 win over FC Heidenheim on Thursday (November 28).
If it wasn’t for the young Dane, Chelsea could have suffered a shock defeat to the Germans, with the keeper ending the game having made 11 saves, 14 recoveries, and a pass accuracy rate of 84 per cent.

Since joining, Maresca has implemented a two-squad system, preferring certain players for certain competitions to help manage minutes.
Morale within the squad seems high, with Sanchez taking to Instagram to let Jorgensen and the fans know they’re all united.

With a hectic festive period coming up, Chelsea’s squad depth could prove vital in their ultimate mission to return to the Champions League.
Next up is a visit from Aston Villa on Sunday (December 1) with Chelsea knowing a defeat could see them drop out of the top four.
