‘Robert Sanchez will not be at Chelsea next season’ after Radio 5 update
Chelsea supporters believe that Robert Sanchez will no longer be the first-choice goalkeeper next season if the club wants to become a genuine title threat.
This comes after former West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan discussed the 27-year-old and the impact he’s having on Enzo Maresca’s side.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live, “The biggest problem what I see with Chelsea at this moment in time, I think, you know they’re obviously always trying to talk it down. The biggest problem is the goalkeeper, he was in a fault for the first goal.
“He makes really bad mistakes for them, if they’re going to go on and be title contenders, then they need someone else.”
Maresca does have several options available to him already under contract with backup goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen having played regularly in the Europa Conference League.
Kepa Arrizabalaga and Djordje Petrovic are both out on loan at the moment at Bournemouth and Strasbourg respectively, and could be called back if needed.
Chelsea fans want to see Robert Sanchez replaced
The former Brighton goalkeeper has been criticised by pundits throughout the season, but Maresca has opted to stick with him up to now.
Sanchez has only kept three clean sheets this season, but the Blues boast the third-best defensive record in the Premier League so far.
However, Chelsea fans are still calling for a change and believe that Sanchez “needs to be benched.”
