Robertson, Henderson react to Joe Gomez’s major Liverpool update amid exit rumours
Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson reacted to a message from Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as uncertainty swirls around his future.
The 28-year-old joined the Reds from Charlton in 2015 and has gone on to make 241 appearances for the reigning Premier League champions.
But after making 32 Premier League appearances and 51 in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, the England international featured just nine times in the league last campaign.
Gomez was wanted by Newcastle and Aston Villa last summer, but Liverpool decided against selling the defender.
However, despite rumours that the 28-year-old will be on his way out of Anfield in the current transfer window, a message from the Reds’ defender on social media suggests he has other plans.

Joe Gomez sends ‘still hungry to keep going’ message
Celebrating a decade at Liverpool, Gomez shared a plethora of photos on Instagram, captioned: “10 years ago as a kid moving from south east London to Liverpool, I couldn’t even imagine looking this far into the future. Looking back now I’m full of gratitude & take so much pride in being a part of this club and city.
“No denying the challenges along the way, but embracing them to grow as both a player and a person is something I’ve always tried to do & I’m grateful for all the support in trying to do that.
“It’s been a blessing to be a part of the different dressing rooms and getting to create such special memories over the years with so many great players & staff.
“I felt it was important to share my thanks to you all for the support throughout the years, it’s always meant the world and I will never take it for granted.
“A decade in red… and still hungry to keep going.”
The post was liked by Sunderland transfer target Henderson, and seemingly Atletico Madrid-bound Robertson, showing their support for the long-serving defender.
Whilst the post does not explicitly say Gomez will not leave, it does send a clear message that the defender wants to remain with the club he has called home since his teenage years.
Liverpool may look to keep Joe Gomez after Jarell Quansah update
Football Insider Verdict
Football Insider revealed on 20 June that Jarell Quansah had agreed personal terms with Bayer Leverkusen, and looks set to move to Germany this summer.
If the England Under-21 international switches Anfield for the BayArena, the Reds would be light at the back.
Quansah featured irregularly last season, but following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid, Liverpool only has Conor Bradley and new signing Jeremie Frimpong as natural right-backs with significant first-team experience.
The young Englishman’s departure would also leave Arne Slot with just Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Gomez as options at centre-back.
Whilst the Reds are likely to sign a new central defender this summer, retaining a player who has both Premier League experience and quality will be enticing to the Dutch manager, despite the ex-Charlton man’s difficult injury history.
In other Anfield news, Ian Darke told Liverpool News Ben Doak could make history if he joins Everton this summer.
