Robinson ‘100 per cent’ sure on Tottenham development after Sky pundit’s ‘ludicrous’ Kane claim
Paul Robinson has slammed the Professional Game Match Officials Limited [PGMOL] after Tottenham striker Harry Kane escaped a red against Liverpool.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one said “it’s ludicrous” to suggest the 28-year-old was not sent off because he is the England captain.
Kane was only given a yellow card for a high tackle on Andy Robertson in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (20 December), VAR chose not to intervene because Robertson was jumping when fouled.
Speaking on Sky Sports (19 December), Jamie Redknapp said Kane’s reputation as England captain worked in his favour.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the incident, Robinson said: “It was a sending-off.
“100 per cent it was a red card.
“The PGMOL need to change their views on everything. They are just being reactive right now. If that happens next week I have no doubt that it will be a red card. There is no consistency and no continuity.
“Listen, I’m biased towards Tottenham but even then I see no argument for Kane not being sent off there. They didn’t even go through the protocols. VAR should have intervened.

“The PGMOL are making bad decisions every week. Other countries will be bemused as to how that’s not a sending-off. If that was seen in a European competition Kane would be sent off.
“To suggest he didn’t get sent off because he is England captain is ludicrous though. Kane got away with one. Truthfully, it was a red card.”
