Robinson cites Alisson as Tottenham line up 'amazing' goalkeeper to replace Lloris

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on the “amazing” Jordan Pickford amid talk of a move to Tottenham next year.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one questioned whether the 27-year-old is “a world-class” keeper.

The Telegraph reported on (18 November) that Spurs have set their sights on signing Pickford to replace Hugo Lloris, who is out of contract at the end of the season

Lilywhites insider and Football Insider pundit John Wenham expects Everton to demand £40million for Pickford.

The England international is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2024.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the Pickford, Robinson said: “That is new to me.

“It is a very interesting one. Spurs need a new number one if Lloris leave.

“Hugo has been phenomenal. He had a little dip in his form 18 months ago but he’s back to his best now. He has been an outstanding servant for Tottenham. A top, top-class goalkeeper. He is very rarely at fault.

“To replace him is going to be a real challenge. It is very hard to get top-class goalkeepers.

“Liverpool and Man City went to new levels after signing Alisson and Ederson. World-class goalkeepers are important.

“Is Pickford world-class? His distribution is amazing and he has improved a huge amount in recent years. But I would still place him in that bracket below.”

Lloris has been Tottenham’s first choice goalkeeper for the past nine years.

He has made 13 appearances this season.

In other news, Conte has told Tottenham to let ‘£110m’ player go in January.
