Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has “got that little twinkle back in his eye” this season, according to Paul Robinson.
The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 57-year-old has been “massively backed” by the club in the transfer market.
The Lilywhites have bolstered their ranks with the permanent signings of Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart, while Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius have arrived on loan.
Spurs are unbeaten in all competitions since their opening day loss against Everton and have scored 11 goals in their last two away games in the Premier League.
Robinson heaped praise on the club’s recruitment this summer and tipped Mourinho’s side to be “a real force” this season.
“Jose Mourinho has been brought in for a reason and that is to win trophies,” he told Football Insider.
“The business that they have done in this window really excites me. I am really optimistic about what they can achieve this season.
“Mourinho seems to have got that little twinkle back in his eye. That bit of devilment.
“He has been massively backed by the chairman and the board and he has the players that he wants. Spurs are going to be a real force this year.”
Speaking last week, Mourinho hailed his squad depth: “I’m very happy with the squad I have.
“Especially in attack, the options are incredible: Lucas, Lamela and Gareth Bale, Vinicius, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Bergwijn, Son and I probably forgot somebody.”
In other Tottenham news, Danny Mills claims attacker who scored last weekend may still leave this season.
