Robinson fears Tottenham have another ‘Eriksen’ on their hands after Athletic update
Paul Robinson has urged Tottenham to tie Harry Kane down to a new contract to finally put an end to speculation regarding his future.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one fears “another Christian Eriksen situation” if the 27-year-old doesn’t put pen to paper on new terms.
Kane announced on Twitter (August 25th) that he would be staying at Spurs this season.
The England captain had been the subject of two bids from Manchester City but Tottenham rejected them both.
According to The Athletic (August 27th), Kane turned down the offer of a new contract earlier this month.
When asked for his assessment of Kane’s decision, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “It would be a massive boost if he signed a new deal.
“He needs to commit his future to Spurs and stay because he wants to stay not because he has been forced.
“If he still wants to leave, even though the deal did not happen, this will resurface. It will be talked about all season and especially during the January window. This needs to be sorted out.

“For me there should have only been two options. One, he’s sold to the highest bidder and Nuno is given the money and time to invest it in his players. Or, two, he stays and signs a new deal. That is the only way this can be put to bed once and for all.
“If he doesn’t sign a new deal we have got another Christian Eriksen situation. It is impossible to get the best out of a player who does not want to be at the football club.”
