Sunderland told to accept ‘big’ January offer for Rangers target Ross Stewart – pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed “it would be a big loss” to Sunderland if Ross Stewart left next year.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 26-year-old has proven he can score goals in the Championship this season.

Stewart has impressed since moving to the Stadium of Light from Ross County in January 2021.

The centre-forward has been in a rich vein of form this term, contributing six goals and three assists to date.

Sources told Football Insider on 19 December that Rangers are showing an interest in the centre-forward.

The Black Cats have slapped a £10million price tag on their star striker who is out of contract next June.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the latest, Robinson said: “I cannot see Rangers paying it to be honest.

“It would be a big loss if Sunderland lost him though whether that be in January or at the end of the season. He has proven to be a really good signing for them. He is proven that he is good enough to score goals in the Championship.

“I’m sure Sunderland will be desperate to keep him and get him signed up to a new deal.

“If he is not willing to sign a new deal they need to try and get as much money as they can for him in January. They cannot let him leave on a free.”

In other news, a pundit has claimed Sunderland could seal a ‘great’ deal for Cameron Archer after source’s update.
